Centralising your delivery platforms has become essential as soon as you use more than one. But not all software is equal, and the differences mostly show after a few months: paid add-ons, order caps, missing features, support that's hard to reach. Here are the ten questions to ask before you sign.
1. Which platforms are actually connected?
Check the list of platforms you actually use (Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Just Eat, Glovo, DoorDash…) and ask how the connection works: real-time order reception, automatic acceptance, menu sync, dispute reporting.
2. Is the price published, and what does it include?
A published price lets you compare before the demo. Above all, ask:
- what's included in each plan;
- what's an add-on and how much each add-on costs;
- whether there's a monthly order cap;
- whether there's a commission on revenue.
For example, Pepprio publishes four plans from €39 to €139 per month, with no commission: see the Pricing page.
3. Is the menu managed only once?
Good software lets you enter your menu once and push it to every platform: prices, unavailable dishes, opening hours. It saves a considerable amount of time and ends inconsistencies between platforms.
4. POS, kitchen display, kiosk: are they included?
Some tools stop at receiving orders. Others provide the POS, the kitchen display (KDS) and the customer kiosk in the same tool, with a single catalogue and a single analytics. Fewer suppliers means fewer compatibility problems.
5. How are disputes and refunds tracked?
This is one of the areas where you lose the most money without seeing it. Ask whether disputes are captured automatically, linked to the order, categorised by reason, and whether you can contest them. See our guide on disputes and refunds.
6. Are virtual brands supported?
If you run or are considering several brands from the same kitchen, check that each brand can have its own accounts, menus, prices and analytics, and that the kitchen display can route tickets by brand.
7. What if I open more locations?
Today's independent can become a small group tomorrow. Check multi-location management: consolidated view, rolling out a menu to several sites, role-based permissions, action history.
8. What analytics are available?
At a minimum: revenue by platform, average basket, top products, period comparison. More and more tools go further with AI: analysing price history, events and time slots to suggest adjustments — as the Pepprio AI agent does.
9. Can I sell direct without commission?
An ordering site in your name, with payment into your own account and a customer database that belongs to you, reduces your dependence on the platforms. Ask whether it's included and on what terms.
10. Who answers when things go wrong?
On a Saturday night, a printer that stops responding can't wait three days. Ask about support channels, language, response times, and how long onboarding takes.
